Detailed

As an Officiant, I can tell you that its important to have a sense of what is happening in the general area and have a sharp-eye for detail.

An Officiant is there to ensure your day works out as smoothly as possible. For instance, a guest leaving a walker in the aisle will ensure that the walker is left in a convenient location for the ceremony and out of the way of photographers. While this isn’t necessary, your officiant should be looking ahead as photos will be cherished for many years to come.

Flexibility

The wedding ceremony is a complete reflection of what you and your partner want. It’s vital to ensure that your chosen efficient is someone who can work with you and can remain flexible, to help you create the ceremony that you hold dear to your heart and where you can carefully choose every word that is spoken. Your officant is there to ensure that your vision is carried out according to what is important to you as a couple. The day is yours, not the officiants.

Pay close attention to your Officiant during your initial meeting with him or her as they will reveal lots of detail that will help you ensure that your choosing the right person for the role. If small details are missed you might want to consider a broader search for the right individual.

Knowledgeable

Are they familiar with the important aspects of a ceremony and how to manage it?

Credible

Check for reviews online. Specifically, do reviews speak well of their personality and the manner in which they conduct themselves? Ideally, you want someone who reflects the colors of the rainbow, is engaging and project their voice well.

Punctual

Was your Officiant on time for a first time meeting with you and your soon to be spouse? Please pay attention to this minor detail as it tell you a lot about who they are as a person and if you can depend on them to be on time for your special day.

Most venues are becoming increasingly more focused on time, so it’s important that your Officiant be on time and even early to your ceremony.
